Play Powder Puff Football!
Marina Bradley, Clockwork, sound imagery collage based on the song Sphagnum Esplanade by The Shins “I chose this song because of the eerie mood the instrumental parts create. The lyrics create vivid visuals in my mind when I listen to it, so I thought I could easily create a collage inspired by this. Having danced to this song in a show, I thought it would be interesting to express this song through another art form.”Marina Bradley.jpg Matt Woo, The Silent Man, sound imagery collage based on the song The Instrumental by Lupe Fiasco “I named my collage The Silent Man because it explains a sad, hurt man in a world full of technology. He is so addicted to games, TV, phones, etc… that he has no time for family or friends. It is supposed to be a message to people to get out and be social.”Matthew Woo.jpg Hannah Terry, A Journey Unknown, sound imagery collage based on the song Suicide Pop by Volly Volitile “I loved the cutting and pasting that turned into an incredible jumble of perfection. I have no regrets in my collage. It turned into something so beautiful. I love it.”Hannah Terry.jpg Alyson Du, Pyramid, sound imagery collage based on the song Pyramid by Charice Earthquakes can’t break us Hurricanes can’t take away our love Pyramid, we built this on a solid rock It feels just like heaven’s touch Together at the top Like a pyramidAlyson Du.jpg Andy Tan, Dubstep, sound imagery collage based on the music Dubstep Andy Tan.jpg Brittany McGovern, Sound Imagery Music Collage based on Reflections by Christina Agullera Brittany McGovern.jpg Christina Carmon, I Don’t Even Understand, sound imagery collage based on the song Raindrops by Basement Jaxx “I loved how the bass in the background would shake the cars outside and set off the alarms.” Christina Carmon.jpg Vanessa Ramirez, El vagon que desaparece(The Train Car that Disappears), sound imagery collage based on the song Jueves by La Oreja de Van Gogh “The song is all about a girl that is interested in a guy, but the guy doesn’t notice her. The girl sees this guy every time she goes on the train. So she tries her best to meet this guy. Finally she meets him in a tunnel. They kiss each other in the dark and ” (Terrorist subway bombings in Madrid, Spain on March 11, 2004) Vanessa Ramirez.jpg Frank Lovelady, Frank, sound imagery collage based on the song Narcissistic Cannibal by Korn “The collage I put together represents what I think kind of shows the drops in the Dubstep part as explosive, and the letters are from the music video which is basically random stuff all tied together by the song. This project… made me happy to acutely express myself and have some flexibility to do something my way.” Frank Lovelady.jpg Raymond Mui, Courtyard Apocalypse, sound imagery collage based on the soundtrack to HP7 part 2. “I used different colors to represent the song. I used green to show the bad side of the song. I used battle scenes, a snake and capture to represent the sad part of the music. I used red to represent the victory, freedom and happiness of the music.” Raymond Mui.jpg Alexie Sousa, To Fly on Tattered Wings, sound imagery collage based on the song Chou by Amano Tsukiko “Chou means butterfly in Japanese, so I splayed butterflies all over the collage. …The fiery tones and passionate strength of the singer creates a dramatic picture… Since the song is fiery I made the butterflies in a range of warm colors.”Alexie Sousa.jpg Rachell Harris Anderline, Color Thoughts, sound imagery collage based on the song Beautiful Lies by MT Eden “It wasn’t difficult to combine music and visual arts together. I first listened to the song to get a sense of the idea. Then I made up a concept/theme to go with the music. I basically tried to interpret the beat and energy of the song on the piece of paper.” Rachel Harris-Anderline.jpg Jason Liu, Lost in the Snow, sound imagery collage based on the song Winter Concerto (largo) by Vivaldi “One day I was just listening to classical music when one song ended the next one was Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto by Sarah Chang. This song sounded amazing and I just got lost in the music.” Jason Liu.jpg Kiuana Wright Parkinson, Travelling Music, sound imagery collage based on the song Mister Magic by Grover Washington “When I go travelling with my Dad most of the time we listen to Jazz to have a calm ride on the highway.” Kiuana Wright Parkinson.jpg Carlotta Heischler, sound imagery music collage based on the song Abby Rockwell, Jolie Madame, sound imagery collage based on the song Basique by Little People “Collages are interesting because you cut out and use all different things and when one thing doesn’t work than something else will work. So, you can hardly ever go wrong with collages. That is why I love collages. This collage was really fun because it is relating to almost every teenager’s favorite thing, which is music.” Abby Rockwell.jpg Alina Hoefert, Fireflies, sound imagery collage based on the song Fireflies by Owl City “The singer describes how he’s stuck in his life and not content anymore. This is the left side of my collage that is darker. The face in the middle is split in to halves; the older side and the younger one. The person wishes that time would go back and he could live his childhood again. So, I arranged the right in brighter colors. The fireflies represent the childhood dreams he wants to catch.” Alina Hoefert.jpg Leonie Wacker, sound Imagery Music Collage based on Let it Rain by Bruno Mars. Leonie Wacker.jpg Faith Chau, The Sound of Life, sound imagery collage based on the song This and That is Live by David Choi “I used bottle caps and arranged them in a way that represents the strong beat in the song so that the person who is looking at my collage could “hear/feel” the beat. I arranged the clips of people to a guitar shape because the guitar was the background music.” Faith Chiu.jpg Shawna Copple, On the Wrong Side of Reality, sound imagery collage based on the song Thistleheart by Ron McFarland “It is kind of a fantasy world and we can’t be in a fantasy world so we make them. Like in my collage the floating fish are complete fantasy. The puzzle pieces are like building a fantasy because they are random.” Shawna Copple.jpg Raphael Alvarez, E.T, sound imagery collage based on the song E.T by Katy Perry and Kanye West Raphael Alvarez.jpg Diana Henriquez, Not Strong Enough to Love, sound imagery collage based on the song Not Strong Enough by Apocalyptica “I actually loved making the Sound Imagery Music Collage because you got to hear your song a lot of times, and I just love how it turned out. To me it looks really good, and when I see it I actually hear the song.” Diana Henriquez.jpg Melissa Huang, Simplicity, sound imagery collage based on the music of Taylor Swift. “I wanted to look like a landscape of a small place which looks beautiful although unknown. Also, I made the sky so it is like an unsolved puzzle…. because I think Taylor Swift is kind of unexpected in her songs.” Melissa Huang.jpg Leslie Rich, Memory Lane, sound imagery collage based on the song Paradise by Coldplay “Whenever I listen to this I think of what Paradise is to me, but I also think about the bad things that I’ve gone through and how I’ve grown from them.” Leslie Rich.jpg Vivian Nguyen, The Sound of Pop, sound imagery collage based on Pop music, for example, 2NE1 “The vibrant colors I used represent the fun upbeat rhythm of pop music. While making my collage I was kind of inspired by Pop Art, so I added a lot of fun colors.” Vivian Nguyen.jpg Jessica Cavalli, At the End of the Day, sound imagery collage based on the song We Found Love by Rihanna “My collage tells that at the end of the day, through the bad, love can get you through it and good can happen.” Jessica Cavalli.jpg

Students in Ms. Bramstedt's Art 2 class create collages using sound imagery based on a song.
